I grew up in Nottingham, England, and moved to Sheffield to study at The University of Sheffield, where I took both my BSc in Mathematics and Physics and my Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Secondary Mathematics. After teaching and tutoring in England for four years, I moved into international teaching, where I have broadened my experience of teaching different curricula, from IGCSE, to A-Level, to IB. My first international position was in Kuwait, and since then I have taught in countries as far-flung as Malaysia, Jordan and Romania.
I believe that in addition to academic success, it is a school’s responsibility to support students as they become confident, socially aware and responsible global citizens by broadening their horizons, building character and empathy and raising their awareness of local and global issues. A blend of a multicultural inclusive learning environment, a diverse range of enrichment and extracurricular activities and a comprehensive pastoral programme are intrinsic to realising successful, well-rounded individuals.
In my classroom I inspire and challenge students, with high expectation for all and a strong commitment to inclusive teaching. My wealth of experience allows me to be highly adaptable, tailoring my lessons to individual learning needs, styles and abilities. I always ensure my classroom is a safe space where all students know they can learn from their mistakes.
About Mrs Hadwen
My favourite sport is swimming and in my free time I enjoy reading, jigsaw puzzles, playing board-games and jewellery making. I also love travelling with my husband.
What the students say about me
Mrs Hadwen listens.
Mrs Hadwen has high expectations but is kind and fair.
Mrs Hadwen can be silly and embarrass herself to make sure we learn and remember.
