DUKE OF EDINBURGH'S AWARD

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (the Award) is a Non-Formal Education and Learning framework supporting young people to find their purpose, place and passion in the world.

Our school offers the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, a globally recognised youth achievement programme, to students 14 and older at the Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels. Operating in over 130 countries, the award has motivated millions of young people to push themselves to achieve.

Doing the Award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others; it pushes young people to their personal limits and recognises their achievements. The Award also can play a critical role in the student’s development outside the classroom, focusing on communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

What's the Award?

The Award is a program of activities. Each student who takes part in the program learns a skill, improves their physical fitness, volunteers in their community, and experiences a team adventure in a new environment. Success in the program is measured by regular participation over a fixed period of time, while showing commitment and progress in each activity. Throughout the program, all participants receive support from adult mentors, called Award Leaders, Assessors, and Coordinators.
