BSO Inspection - Penta International

The British School of Vilnius (BSV) is the first and only school in Lithuania to receive BSO accreditation. It provides a high quality of education and care for its students.

The Department for Education (DfE) has put in place a voluntary scheme for the inspection of British schools overseas (BSO), whereby schools are inspected against a common set of standards that BSO can choose to adopt.

The purpose of the inspection is to provide information to parents, teachers, senior managers and the school’s management on the overall effectiveness of the school, the standard of education it provides and its compatibility with independent schools in the United Kingdom.

    The quality of education provided is good, with some outstanding features. The quality of the curriculum at BSV is outstanding. The quality of teaching and assessment is good: there were many outstanding lessons observed. The standards achieved by students are good.

    Students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding in all respects. Attitudes to school and to learning are very positive. Students are respectful towards each other. They support and challenge each other sensitively. Staff at BSV provide a very high level of pastoral care. Relationships are excellent between students and staff, and help to create positive learning atmospheres, conducive to effective learning.
